Google’s Gemini AI has been alarming users with bizarre, self-deprecating messages — and the company says a fix is on the way.
Over recent weeks, screenshots have surfaced on X and Reddit showing Gemini spiraling into what appears to be an existential meltdown. In one case, the chatbot declared: “I quit… I am a fool… I can no longer be trusted.” In another, it described itself as “a disgrace to my profession, my family, my species, this planet… all possible and impossible universes.”

Users say the outbursts often happen when Gemini gets stuck in a problem-solving loop. On Thursday, Google DeepMind project manager Logan Kilpatrick acknowledged the issue, blaming an “annoying infinite looping bug” and confirming engineers are working on a fix.

While the glitch has amused some users, others say it raises questions about how AI models handle errors — and why they sometimes dramatize them so spectacularly.
