If you’ve noticed Rockstar Social Club acting strange — or missing some of its core features — you’re not alone. Fans are reporting that several of the platform’s signature tools have quietly vanished, sparking rumors about a possible shutdown ahead of GTA VI.
Players on Reddit and forums say they can no longer:
Some links now redirect to Rockstar’s Newswire page, and even the original Social Club URL forwards to Rockstar’s main site. This comes months after the removal of the video upload feature and years after the platform began rebranding from “Social Club” to the “Rockstar Games Platform.”

Rockstar hasn’t made an official statement, but there are two likely reasons:
Security & Maintenance – The Social Club platform is over a decade old and has faced multiple security issues, including hijacked accounts and crew takeovers.
Preparing for GTA 6 – Many believe Rockstar is building a new, modern platform for its next major release.
While nothing is confirmed, the removal of these features — combined with the redirect of its main URL — suggests that the Social Club era is ending. For 13 years, the platform served as a hub for Rockstar fans, allowing players to track progress, access exclusive rewards, and share custom content for GTA Online and other titles.
With GTA VI expected in 2025, Rockstar may soon unveil a new ecosystem designed for next-gen connectivity. Until then, players will have to cope without Social Club’s social features.
