When the first trailer for Danny Boyle\u2019s 28 Years Later dropped late last year, eagle-eyed fans thought they spotted a familiar face lurking among the undead: Cillian Murphy<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A brief shot showed an emaciated zombie rising from the ground, and given Murphy\u2019s drastic weight loss for his Oscar-winning role in Oppenheimer, speculation quickly spread online that the actor had secretly reprised his role in the new sequel. Even some media outlets wondered aloud if the gaunt figure was the 28 Days Later star.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The truth? The so-called \u201cEmaciated Infected\u201d was actually played by Angus Neill, an art dealer-turned-model talent-spotted by Boyle for his distinctive look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Murphy\u2019s response<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Now, in a new interview with The Observer<\/em>, Murphy has finally addressed the rumor. The \u201cchronically offline\u201d actor admitted he wouldn\u2019t have known about the viral chatter if not for his son.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat\u2019s great people think I look like a zombie cadaver,\u201d Murphy said with trademark dry humor. \u201cIt\u2019s very flattering.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Looking ahead to The Bone Temple<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While Murphy didn\u2019t appear in 28 Years Later<\/em>, he is confirmed to return in its sequel, The Bone Temple<\/em>, in what he described as a \u201cminor role\u201d designed to set up a larger appearance in the planned third film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
