A mechanical engineer from Assam, Pratim Bora, has been arrested for misusing AI to create fake online content of his ex-girlfriend. What began as a personal act of revenge turned into a calculated scheme for profit.

Using just one photo, Bora built a fictional persona called “Babydoll Archi” on social media in 2020. The account skyrocketed to 1.3 million followers, fueled by hyper-realistic AI visuals and even a viral image featuring a popular influencer.

Police revealed Bora used tools like Midjourney AI, Desire AI, and OpenArt AI to generate this content, presenting it as authentic. Authorities estimate he earned nearly ₹10 lakh through subscriptions and related activities.

The case came to light after the victim filed a cyber defamation complaint, exposing how easy it is to blur the line between reality and fiction with AI.

Officials warn: “What you see online may not be real.”
