Owlcat Games, the studio behind Pathfinder and Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, has publicly expressed support for the Stop Killing Games movement. The initiative aims to ensure that games remain functional after release, even if their online services are discontinued.

“We are committed to delivering a great experience — no matter how long it’s been since a game’s release. We also believe every player deserves lasting access to the games they’ve paid for. Take your time and learn more about the Stop Killing Games initiative and share your thoughts,” the studio stated on X.

The European Citizens’ Initiative has already gathered over 1.4 million signatures. If at least 1 million verified EU citizens sign, the petition will be submitted for review by EU authorities.

The movement opposes practices where players lose access to purchased games after servers shut down. Its supporters argue for game preservation and consumer rights.

Owlcat Games supports the Stop Killing Games initiative, calling for permanent access to purchased titles. Over 1.4M signatures collected.

Earlier this month, Video Games Europe, which includes major publishers like Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo, responded by stating that shutting down online services should remain an option for companies, citing increased development costs otherwise.

However, the campaign recently faced an anonymous transparency complaint, alleging undisclosed large donations.

The initiative was strongly promoted by content creator Ross Scott, who urged gamers to sign, noting that many signatures could be invalidated due to technical errors.
