Gina Carano has reached a settlement with Disney and Lucasfilm, ending a legal dispute that began in early 2024 over her firing from The Mandalorian and allegations of gender discrimination. The lawsuit was financially backed by Elon Musk.
At the time, Carano claimed she was dismissed for expressing “right-leaning views,” while male colleagues were allegedly allowed to share their political opinions freely.
Both sides have now confirmed that the matter has been resolved. While the details of the agreement remain confidential, Disney stated they would be open to collaborating with Carano again in the future.
“Gina Carano has always enjoyed the respect of directors and fellow cast members. She worked hard to hone her craft and treated her colleagues with kindness and respect. Now that this lawsuit has been resolved, we look forward to the possibility of working with her again,” Disney’s statement read.

This means Carano could still return to the Star Wars universe as Cara Dune — though no announcements have been made. For now, Lucasfilm’s plans for The Mandalorian remain unclear, especially after the release of The Mandalorian & Grogu film set for 2026.
