ASUS’ Xbox-branded ROG Ally handheld — revealed in June — is reportedly set for an October 16 European release, alongside the higher-end ROG Ally X. The information comes from reliable leaker Billbil-kun via Dealabs, known for accurate hardware and game announcements.

The standard ROG Ally will feature an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, 16GB RAM, and 512GB SSD storage, while the Ally X will pack an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme, 24GB RAM, and is aimed at “the most demanding players.”

Pricing is expected at €599 (around £520) for the base model and €899 (about £780) for the Ally X. Pre-orders are said to begin August 20, with an official announcement likely during Microsoft’s Gamescom showcase the same day.

Both devices run Windows 11 with a full-screen Xbox interface, support Xbox Play Anywhere titles, and offer an aggregated game library pulling from PC platforms like Steam, Battle.net, and GOG.

While Xbox boss Phil Spencer has teased an official Microsoft handheld for years, recent reports suggest the company is leaning toward third-party partnerships — making ASUS’ ROG Ally lineup the closest we’ll get to an “official” Xbox portable in the near term.
